Domitia Lepida had been betrothed to Augustus’s elder grandson, Lucius Cæsar, and on his premature death was married to Quirinius. Now Lucius died on 20th August, A.D. 2. But the Romans of that period showed the minimum of delicacy in respect of marriages.
